Internship Opportunities

Thank you for interest in an internship/externship with the judges of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. It is to the discretion of each judge to accept internships and the availability of these positions within a particular chambers may change from year-to-year. Furthermore, most chambers only accept interns for certain semesters so ensure the timeframe available will work with your schedule before expressing interest. Internships/externships are gratuitous, and all interns/externs must abide by the Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees. All interns must also be eligible to work in the United States and must provide fingerprints for a sensitive background check.

Judge Scott M. Matheson, Jr.

Timeframe: Fall, Spring, and Summer Semesters (In response to COVID concerns, we are not presently accepting applications.)

Schedule:   Flexible, but in accordance with law school requirements for credit.

Minimum Law School Level to Apply: Three completed semesters.

Required Application Materials: Cover letter, resume, and law school transcript.

How to Apply:  Send applications by USPS to Bennett Federal Building, 125 South State Street, Suite 5402, Salt Lake City, UT  84111.  But University of Utah and Brigham Young University students should apply through their law schools.

Judge Allison H. Eid

Timeframe: Spring, Summer, and Fall Semesters

Schedule: Part-time during the Spring and Fall | Part-time or Full-time during the Summer

Minimum Law School Level to Apply: 1L completed

Required Application Materials: Cover Letter, Resume, List of References (2-3 references preferred)
