Chief Judge Mary Beck Briscoe is saddened to announce the passing of the Honorable Robert H. McWilliams, who had served on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals with distinction since 1970. Judge McWilliams was appointed to the federal bench by President Richard Nixon after having already served eighteen years as a judge for the municipal, county and state courts of Colorado, including three years as Chief Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court. He took senior status in 1984 and continued to hear cases until 2011. Judge McWilliams has to his credit a long and distinguished judicial career. He was humble, despite his many accomplishments. As a jurist, he was hardworking and was known for his prompt rulings that were clearly stated. He will be missed by the entire court family.
